Inspired By My Family

While I was in Colorado, my sister-in-law gave me a book of wallpaper that I found interesting. The card to the right was made with a sample upholstery fabric that matched a wallpaper. I would hate the wallpaper but it made a fun card. The card to the right was inspired by a throw pillow that was in a book my mom sent me. I also used the sewing machine my mother handed down to me to make these cards. I have my mother-in-law to thank for the scrap of fabric I used. I really enjoy making home made cards and can't wait till all my other fabric and art supplies finally get unpacked!

New Baby Gifts

I recently went on a trip to Colorado to spend time with the in-laws and got to go to my sister-in-law's baby shower. I wanted to make something special for the little one but no one knows if it is a boy or girl. The baby is due October 1st so I wanted something that was a little warmer for the baby and decided to go with a fall theme. Here is what I came up with:
(1) Acorn Long-sleeved Onsie (2) Maroon Baby BootiesThis was my first attempt at baby booties. I thought they turned out pretty well (even after my pattern instructions flew out the car window on the way to Colorado).

Another Fun Card

I made this for a friend. I think it is fun to put a little time in to communication. I found the basic tutorial from here. Then I just added that cute paper flower and glued it on one corner of the page so that when pulled, the letter would open.

Homemade Card

I enjoy making home made cards for friends and family when I can. Here is my latest:It cost next to nothing because I got a sheet of the specialty paper (brown with flowers) for 10 cents. I did not use much of it. I already had the ribbon on hand. The blue flower came in a pack of at least 20 for 50 cents. The white card stock comes in a pack of 250 for a couple dollars and I used 1/2 a sheet.

I made this purse for a graduation present. I really like how it turned out.
Here is my first ever, successfully paper-quilted block. Yay for Christmas table runners.

Organization

I started a small collection of fabrics last year. I do not really have a way to store them creatively or properly. Inspired by this:I decided it would look neat to take this:A common shoe organizer from Target... and make it look like this:

Uncommon Vase

My husband gave me a bouquet of flowers for my birthday. A few of the mini carnations in the arrangement fell off. Since we are "in transit" most of my vases are packed. The big bouquet I placed in a curvy glass water pitcher. This inspired me to get creative with the few that had fallen off:

Happy Spring Card

Here is my latest stamping creation. I used a small card that you attach to a gift and spiced it up with some springy stamps. A family in our church had a house fire last year. They are finally getting to move in to their new place this month and the church members are throwing them a new home shower. I felt like getting creative. (The envelope is on the right)

Home-made Magnets

I made these magnets from some cute fabric I thought would match our "vintage" Whirlpool refrigerator. To the best of my knowledge, the refrigerator is from about 1967 .

My Creative Niche

I was inspired by a recent trip to Illinois. Here is my current inspiration. I myself do not have the money to decorate my whole house with new things but I love looking and I really love finding deals on similar items. If anyone wants to hire me for their home let me know :) These colors and items could be used on a porch or inside.

Knitting Needle Case in Apple Cinnamon

This is one of my first fun creations with the sewing machine. It is a knitting needle case. It rolls up for easy storage or transport. This is the inside of the bag unrolled. The red pocket holds circular needles. This is a small pocket to hold accessories. Above the pocket are extra needle spaces for longer needles.
